Healing Value of Community

I was reminded of the healing value of community again today. I’ve spoken with so many newly diagnosed colon cancer patients (I prefer survivors) who have said they feel so alone in their diagnosis, and find hope and healing when connecting with others who have similar experiences. I have also experienced the healing value of community. As you can read in my earlier blog posts, I’ve struggled with health issues as a result of long term side effects from colon cancer treatments. Multiple ER visits and hospital stays, several surgeries, a couple of close brushes with death. But I’ve survived! Why? The healing value of community. My community of family, friends, medical professionals, and co-workers who donated their own vacation days so that I could rest and recover without any loss of income. Thank you all! For your generous contribution to my well being. I shall never forget and I will always treasure your love and friendship.

Thank you, you are all a blessing to me.
