I could not believe that a GI nurse who treated patients with chronic bowel disease would be afraid to have her diseased colon removed. Instead she endured 17 surgeries each removing only a portion of the diseased tissue. During those painfilled 15 years her kids played in the bathtub and she did her nursing studies on the toilet. She had to explain that mommy had to wear diapers but the kids had to be big boys and girls and leave the diapers behind.
Emergency gallbladder surgery finally took all of the diseased colon, leaving her with a body badly damaged by multiple surgeries and treatments.
Why? Fear of the bag! The bag which now frees her from the toilet and stops polluting her body with disease, pain and misery.
Welcome to life as an active ostomate, join early and don’t fear the bag!
